The Quiller Memorandum UK 1966
Not widely acclaimed, but the sparse dialogue, sinister settings, and prevailing noir-ish atmosphere makes it one of my very favourite spy stories. Adam Hall wrote the book - 'The Berlin Memorandum' - Harold Pinter did the screenplay.
There's even a Pontin bodied Merc. in the artwork.
