The Racers - Kirk Douglas. Original Belgian Movie Poster, 1955
Kirk Douglas and Bella Darvi were the main love interest in The Racers, which was released in Belgium as “Le Cercle Infernal”.
The star car of the movie was the HWM that later became the the magnificent Stovebolt Special, currently being given the occasional outing by owner and motoring oracle, Simon Taylor.
A Ferrari Barchetta was also a major player.
Other cars were faked up from contemporary Ferrari Formula 2 racers.
There was a hell of a lot of back projection going on when Douglas refused to do the racing scenes in Europe.
