Fazil , Original US Movie Poster, 1928, Art Deco
" Fazil ", desire Under the Palms, and along the Parisian Boulevards - the strap line tells the story....almost.
But there was a lot more to Fazil than a little romantic romp. IMDb sums it up: "An Arab prince born and raised in the desert and a beautiful Frenchwoman from Paris fall in love and marry, but the tremendous differences in their backgrounds and the cultural differences between their two different societies put strains on their marriage that may well prove irreparable."
There's also a review that's worth reading, here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018879/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1
As for the poster - in this case an original 'Window Card' measuring 14x22 inches - it's a delight with the rearing stallion, ardent couple, flying roadster and Eiffel Tower. The colours also suit this little Art Deco gem.
Condition is very good and beautifully patinated - giving its own provenance - especially when you consider that this original poster for Fazil is over 90 years old.
There is a small crumple at the lower right corner and some grubbiness in the border above. The top section has the remains of a 'snipe' ( a stick-on giving performance times at the cinema). As is normal, the top blank piece has the name of the hosting cinema, in this case the Miles Standish Theatre, named after one of America's pilgrims.
Origin: France 1928 Size: 22 x 14 in / 56 x 36 cm Condition: Very good.
