Spy in Black, Original Movie Poster, 1947 Re-release, USA - WW2, Submarine
First released in 1939, Spy in Black was a British movie involving the sending of a German submarine to sink the British Fleet in the Orkney Isles in 1917. More on the movie here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031968/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1
This is an American 'teaser' poster for the re-release of the movie in 1947. It credits Alexander Korda, although he was an uncredited producer, and neatly omits the Powell-Pressburger connection.
Anyway, the poster itself is an absolute beauty, with the statuesque, masked and gun toting woman in black, and the lovely little teaser lines: "Warm Lips Kill", "Spine Paralyzing Sea Sequences", and words you don't hear about the Orkneys too often: "The Spectacular Island of Mystery".
This one sheet for "Spy in Black" is in lovely condition, having been linen backed, and retaining some of its original patina.
Origin: USA 1947 Size: 41 x 27 in / 104 x 69 cm Condition: Excellent. Linen backed.
