Cusenier / Curacao , Original Advertising Poster, France 1899
One of the most famous posters ever printed, this 'Cusenier' advertising poster for their alcoholic drink 'Curacao' (an essential ingredient in the cocktail known to a few of us as 'The Five Arsed Monkey') originated in France in the last years of the nineteenth century. The Artist was G.Eros, about whom, I can find nothing
The condition suggests restoration is necessary, but my personal feeling is that the colour and patina are so wonderful, that I would frame it exactly as is.
Major issues are general fragility, and a piece missing from the bottom of the poster. I will investigate the cost of restoration before a deal is struck, if that is what you desire, but the colour and appearance are so beautiful, that I would be inclined to frame it as it is, or perhaps linen back it without restoration.
