Monaco GP 1959 Vinyl LP FX+Commentary UK 1959
From the Sound Stories series comes this 52 year old recording, with commentary by Nevil Lloyd, of the 17th Monaco GP.
Mike Hawthorn, the \'58 Champion had died earlier in the year, so the grid for the opening race of the year was short of its greatest star.
At half distance Moss in the Cooper-Climax had a 40 second lead over Brabham in a similar car and Brooks in the Ferrari.
Just a few laps from the end Moss retired with a knackered back axle, leaving Brabham to his first major GP win.
On this LP, apart from race commentary, there are interviews with Fangio, Moss, Brooks, Brabham, Phil Hill, Schell, Maria Teresa Filippis and John Cooper.
Remember, this LP is by no means perfect, but it is a great piece of Motor-Racing history.
Origin: UK 1959 Size: 12 x 12 in / 30 x 30 cm Condition: The disc is good. Slightly scratchy but very listenable. The sleeve is edgy. Closed tear top centre, small piece missing top right corner. Left hand edge worn. But as you can see from my partial scan, it displays very well.
